Parent Newsletter - Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Bentonville West Band at the Winter concert and the Bentonville Christmas Parade. We appreciate all who participated in the Online Silent Auction where we raised over $1200 to help support the band! We also want to thank everyone who donated peanut butter for local students and families in need.

As we finish out the semester, we want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year! We have had a great time this semester and are looking forward to what next year will bring. We continue to work toward enhancing the quality of the Bentonville West Bands and are so grateful for the support from our family, friends, and the community.

Their hours were submitted to the Walmart Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP) program, which resulted in a $10,500 grant! This trailer will be a huge benefit to the program, providing easy transportation of equipment for smaller trips and eliminate costly truck rentals that occur throughout the year.

  • We are giving back! Band concessions donated the remaining perishable items from concession season to the Living Waters H2O Food Pantry in Centerton. Thank you!

Help us “Step Up the Tech” with new mixers, speakers, and improved live sound for the Midnight Regiment. We’re ready to prep for an amazing show next year and this new tech will help take us to the next level of performance quality.

BWHS Band Directors presented with Certificate of Excellence.

On October 8th, at the end of an away game in Rogers, there was believed to be a possible shooting at the school. Mr. Ortiz, Mr. Gardner, and Mrs. Ortiz acted fast and selfless to get our band students and a number of Rogers students away from the potentially dangerous situation. The event was thankfully a false alarm, but was very real for all involved at that moment. “Sometimes life puts us in a difficult situation and people who really shine in those situations are the people we are really glad we have working with our children”, said Dr. Guthrie, BWHS Principal.

Mr. Ortiz, Mr. Gardner, and Mrs. Ortiz loaded as many kids as they could on their bus and took them to safety. By the time Mr. Guthrie and Mr. Williams made it to them, they had the names of all students, and made contact with parents all while consoling the students. “They displayed great courage, leadership, compassion, and candor with students and parents in the midst of a crisis. Their actions kept their students and the students of Rogers High School safe.” said Mr. Williams, BWHS Assistant Principal.

We are so thankful for you, Mr. Ortiz, Mr. Gardner, and Mrs. Ortiz!

Congratulations to the students selected for Winterguard and Jr. High All-Region!

The 2022 BWHS Winterguard cast will perform at several competitions February through April. We can’t wait to see their new show!

Nearly 50% of our freshmen class was selected for the ASBOA Region VI All-Region Concert band. This is an amazing accomplishment and we are so excited to have such a talented group of musicians.
