HERE WE GROW

We are so proud of the talent and growth seen from the Midnight Regiment over the past two months. Their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship has inspired so many from parents to the next generation of the Midnight Regiment to many members of our community.

The Midnight Regiment placed the highest they ever have at the BOA St. Louis Super Regionals, and swept class 3A at the Bentonville Marching Invitational. Our seniors shined in their jaw dropping solos and students went “Beyond the Sea” with their dramatic ending. They continued to improve with each competition, taking feedback from the judges and hitting the skillet and field to strive to be better for the next performance. We will cover our biennial amendment of the Wolverine Band Booster Bylaws as well as a few larger investment proposals for the band program. These items require attendance for a vote. Online Silent Auction will run from Dec. 1-7, 2021. Students will be asked to collect items by Nov. 29, 2021 for their section’s theme. Non-themed items will also be accepted, such as premium items, gift cards or complete baskets. Proceeds will benefit the general band program.

Finding Strength in our Community

This Fall has proven how important it is to have support from and to our community. We have seen several examples of heroic and inspiring moments. This season, we had parents step up to support the Bentonville Pride Marching Band during the Bentonville Marching Invitational which is not an easy event to pull off. In return, those BHS parents came to the rescue, working our concessions during the West vs. BHS football game, setting the record for our busiest night of the season. Our kids built strong bonds with members of the Bentonville Pride while growing up in our shared community. Tears were shed when they were reunited at the ASBOA Region 6 Marching assessment. Those tears launched both schools into coming together to cheer each other on at the assessment, as well as at BOA St. Louis Super Regionals, and the State Marching contest.

We’re continuing this strong bond with past generations and the next generation. This year the Bentonville West Band invited upcoming band students from Lincoln and Grimsley to play at Friday night games, gaining a valuable insight into the magic of marching band. Additionally, while we were away competing in St. Louis, volunteers from the University of Arkansas Marching band stepped in, learned our fight song, and filled Wolverine Stadium with the energy of their music.

We also encountered a unique example of community support when the Midnight Regiment found themselves without their reserved semi-truck to pull Wolverine 1 (our new large trailer) to the State Marching Contest. McKinley Deigh, one of our band parents, stepped up and made a call to Walmart and within two hours Walmart Driver Bobby Nagurne drove up with his semi-truck and locked in for the trip.

The Midnight Regiment continues to perform at community events such as JB Hunt’s driver celebration day, Senior Night, and Bentonville’s Choose Love event. We know they look forward to many more performances to come. We are so thankful for the support from our band families and the community.

Congratulations to our All-Region Orchestra and Jazz members! We broke our record this year with 8 All-Region Orchestra Members. Gloria Henry (Oboe), Lucas Merriman (Bass Trombone) and Avery Milford (Percussion) were all selected as the top musicians on their instruments. All-Region Jazz included 12 of our musicians with Garrett Gutteridge selected as top seat for Drum Set! We are so proud of these talented musicians.
