Albert Ortiz

Director of Bands

Albert Ortiz began his teaching career as Assistant Band Director at Edinburg North High School in Edinburg, Texas. During his time at Edinburg North, the Mighty Cougar Band advanced to the 6A UIL State Marching Contest in 2014, and the Symphonic Band under his direction received sweepstakes for the first time in 14 years.

In 2015, Mr. Ortiz accepted a position as Assistant Band Director at Bentonville High School. That year the Bentonville Pride received 6th Place at the BOA St. Louis Super Regional and was a BOA Grand National Semi-finalist. Mr. Ortiz conducted 2 of the 5 concert bands and received superior ratings and sweepstakes.

In 2016, Bentonville West High School opened and Mr. Ortiz was named Director of Bands. The Bentonville West High School band has received superior ratings at Marching Assessment, Concert Assessment, State Marching Contest, and State Concert Contest every year since the opening of the school and consistently places Top 5 in the State.

Mr. Ortiz is also active within the Drum Corps International community. He was a member of the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007, and a member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011 and 2012. He has taught with many drum corps’ the past few years including the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, Legends Drum and Bugle Corps and the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.

In the fall of 2017, Mr. Ortiz was named as one of Celebrate Magazines “Ones to Watch for 2017” and appeared in the September issue of the magazine. 

Mr. Ortiz is a native of Edinburg, Texas who has ventured far from home to make a life in Bentonville, Arkansas. He is enjoying life with his wife Jessica Ortiz and their 3 dogs, Piper, Timber, and Copper.
